Renaissance utilizes Thematic Learning as a learning tool for students. Through the use of ‘themes’, students acquire knowledge through the context of a geographic area. Past themes include:

  • 2008-2009         “An Ocean of Opportunity for Your Season of Success” (Daytona Beach, FL)
  • 2009-2010         “Life, Liberty, and The Pursuit of Education” (Philadelphia, PA)
  • 2010-2011         “Take Me to Another Place…Education Through Volunteerism” (Nashville, TN)
  • 2011-2012         “My Life is Ivy League” (Boston, MA)
  • 2012-2014         ”(Re-) Considering the Renaissance” (New York, NY)

Student Leadership Council

The Student Leadership Council (SLC) is made up of seven (7) active Upward Bound participants. The SLC has the opportunity to be a voice amongst their peers and participate in the annual retreat sponsored by Renaissance.
